Doubles Your Baking Options with Convection Technology

A 9"x13" baking pan can be found in most kitchens in North America, used for making everything from lasagna to brownies. Not only does this oven fit two 9"x13" pans at once, unlike conventional ovens without convection technology, the Countertop Oven with Convection comes fully equipped. Instead of having heat come from just one central area and no fan to "stir-up" or circulate air evenly all over, this oven's convection technology utilizes a top and bottom heating element and a built-in fan to distribute heat evenly for a uniform temperature. That way, bakers can choose between traditional baking – ideal for cupcakes, cakes and soft baked goods – or convection baking – ideal for a crispy pizzas, cookies or even taquitos.

For light and fluffy soft baked goods like cupcakes, cakes or pastries, follow these BAKE directions. For crispier foods like pizzas or cookies, use CONVECTION BAKE, which forces more air to circulate in the oven, so foods will cook faster at the same oven temperature:

  1. Before setting to BROIL, place food directly on small baking pan or on broil rack stacked directly on small baking pan and place in oven. DO NOT PREHEAT.
  2. Set the TEMPERATURE to BROIL/ROTISSERIE.
  3. Set FUNCTION to BROIL. Note: Only upper heating elements will be on in BROIL mode.
  4. BROIL: Rotate Timer past 40 minutes, then to desired broiling time or rotate to STAY ON.
  5. Note: Turn food when browned or halfway through cooking time.

For roasted chicken, beef roast or pork roast, follow these ROTISSERIE directions:

  1. Before setting to ROTISSERIE, slide large coated baking pan in lowest rack position.
  2. Tie chicken and large pieces of meat tightly with cotton string to prevent meat from hitting baking pan. For further instructions, search World Wide Web on "How to Truss a Chicken for Rotisserie."
  3. Insert Rotisserie rod lengthwise into center of meat, and insert rotisserie forks on rod lengthwise into lower bottom half of meat. Make sure meat is centered evenly between rotisserie rod and fork ends, and tighten screws on rotisserie forks.
  4. Manually insert pointed end of rod holding chicken into oven rotisserie insert, rotating the rod as needed to fit and then place square end of rod into slot in bracket on left side.
  5. Set TEMPERATURE to BROIL/ROTISSERIE.
  6. Set FUNCTION to ROTISSERIE
  7. BAKE: Rotate Timer past 40 minutes, then set Timer to desired time or rotate to STAY ON.

Note: Only upper heating elements will be on during ROTISSERIE mode.

  • To remove cooked meat from oven, place rotisserie lift with hooks under rotisserie rod. Lift and slide rotisserie rod to the left and remove from oven.
  • Place meat on a clean surface to cool slightly, and using oven mitts, unscrew rotisserie forks and remove rotisserie rod.
  • Slide meat onto cutting surface or serving tray before carving.

Makes Leftovers Delicious and Appealing

Too tired to cook or plan out your next meal? No worries – resorting to leftovers for dinner doesn't have to mean a mushy or unexciting meal any longer. In fact, this oven effortlessly caters to your hectic schedule. Simply set from 300° to 350° to quickly reheat biscuits, leftover roasts or casseroles and set to 150° to keep food warm while you're waiting for guests to arrive or busy multitasking.

Full-Performance Ovens Preferred Over Toaster Ovens

Significant numbers of American consumers use their toaster ovens for more than just toast, and many are also eating at home to save money, eat healthier and manage ingredients. Look no further, the Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection & Rotisserie combines all these features into one. With an extra-large capacity to fit an entire meal for a family of four, additional BROIL settings for the health-conscious and offering four ways to cook, this appliance satisfies the palate, the diet and the budget.

Easy Cleanup

The full-width crumb/drip tray slides out from the front, allowing easy washing. For the best oven performance, cleaning should be done regularly. Unplug first and allow oven to cool before interior and exterior cleaning. For interior cleaning: wipe oven walls, bottom tray and glass door with a damp, soapy cloth, but do not scratch or damage heating element tube. Repeat with a damp, clean cloth. All removable parts should be hand washed in warm, soapy water as well. For stubborn interior stains, use a plastic scouring pad. For exterior cleaning: wipe oven walls with a damp cloth, but do not use abrasive cleansers or metal scouring pads; this can scrape/scratch the surface.

TIPS & CARE

Before cooking with the oven, always PREHEAT for approximately 5 minutes. Check pan manufacturer's directions for oven-safe rating. Do not cover the crumb/drip tray or any part of the oven in aluminum foil (causes overheating); however, use of aluminum foil to partially cover casseroles or some foods is acceptable. Visit foodsafety.gov for more safe cooking temperature information.

1st Customer Review : Small enough to fit on a countertop, large enough to be useful
Make no mistake, this is no mere toaster oven. It's the first portable oven of the many that I've owned that is actually large enough to do some serious cooking. The two included removable racks allow you the versatility of baking on two levels simultaneously or of accommodating a taller cooking vessel on a single level. The usable interior space measures 8.5" high, 13" deep and 13.75" wide and will fit two 13" round pizza stones or two 9" x 13" baking dishes. Just be sure that the baking dishes don't have handles which might put them over the limit.

It shipped with rotisserie equipment, two metal shelf racks, one large enameled metal baking pan and one smaller aluminum broiler or baking pan with a rack that fits inside. The enameled pan is a shelf unto itself and it fits into the rack slots whereas the smaller pan sits on one of the supplied shelf racks. You may never need anything else but if you do, Amazon sells many other accessories which will fit the...

2nd Customer Review : Super for outdoors!
I bought this to go in the garage so that I could get the cooking heat out of the kitchen. So far I've done quickie dinners like chicken strips and frozen pizza but I have also done cornish game hens using the rotisserie feature as well as homemade bannana bread, pigsnblankets, baked fish and augrautin potatos. It's done a great job at everything. I chose this oven because it was the only one with rotisserie and the ability to fit a 9x13 casserole (actually it holds two!) and should come in handy for Thanksgiving and the like. I will point out that casserole dishes with handles or grab sides will not fit, so don't be disappointed when your go-to pyrex dishes with handles won't fit.

If your plan is to use this inside your house to keep from having to fire up your full size oven then I would discourage you from getting this because I think this oven will heat up the house just as much and take up a ton of space. If you plan on keeping it in the garage or a covered...
3rd Customer Review : Thermostat is sloppy
For the cost of this oven, it is OK. Nothing special. There are some things this oven does well, but to excel at baking is not one of them. For reheats and those things that are not critical, it does the job. Two things that bring it down for us. The main thing is how sloppy the thermostat is. When placed on just "bake" with out the use of the convection fan, the temperature is where it should be, but only after I calibrated it. It was found to be 25 degrees high. But when used with the convection fan, the temperature can go as high as 60 degrees over from what the thermostat is set for.
I have many years behind me repairing appliances. Have calibrated more ovens then I can count. I had to calibrate this oven and it was then when I found the difference between convection and normal bake. I knew from the results of what we cooked that the two were not even close. While I was able to calibrate for ether convection use or normal, there was no way I could do both. Convection ovens...

Why the Breville Compact Smart Oven?

Every Breville product begins with a simple moment of brilliance. The Breville Smart Oven began with the simple fact that different foods require different methods of heating: some, like baked goods, need to be cooked evenly; others, like meats, need to be seared on top. Most toaster ovens fail to distribute heat in a consistent way throughout their interiors, let alone change heat distribution to suit the different foods being prepared. This is how the Breville Smart Oven stands apart: whatever the food, it adjusts its heat distribution for perfect results.

Toast SettingsBake Settings
For toast, high heat from top and bottom evenly crisps the outside of toast but doesn't dry out the inside (left diagram), while for baking 1500W are distributed among four elements for gentle heat and even cooking (right diagram)

Smarter, better, faster, more efficient than your average toaster oven

Element IQ Variable Power Distribution

The Compact Smart Oven is equipped with Element IQ cooking technology, which adjusts the power of four individual quartz heating elements to cook food more evenly and quickly. This sophisticated heating system distributes heat throughout the oven when and where it is needed, to guarantee more efficient cooking. Eight different menu options allow users to choose the best setting for the food they are cooking. In addition to dynamically distributing heat to different areas, the Compact Smart Oven can adjust the wattage of its heating elements for even more cooking flexibility. Most ovens have elements with fixed wattage that can only switch between ON and OFF, but Element IQ functions much like a dimmer on a light switch, increasing or decreasing element power with a simple turn of the knob.

For example, toast needs to be cooked evenly on both sides without drying out the inside, so the Compact Smart Oven uses high radiated heat from above and below (1800W distributed between the four elements) to crisp the outside quickly.

On the other hand, baking needs more gentle, even heat that will cook the inside of the baked goods without toughening the outer crust, so the Compact Smart Oven uses 1500W distributed over the top and bottom elements.

Each of eight functions (bake, broil, roast, cookies, reheat, pizza, bagel, and toast) is preset with recommended settings, taking the guesswork out of cooking. However, each can be customized according to recipe, volume of food, or personal taste. Customized settings will remain in the memory of the oven until changed or until the oven is unplugged from the wall outlet, streamlining your cooking process.

Huge innovation on a compact frame

Small but powerful, the Breville Compact Smart Oven has a reduced physical footprint without sacrificing quality or style. It boasts many of the same features as the larger Breville Smart Oven, but with dimensions of 16.5 x15.5 x10.25 inches it requires less counter space. A smaller oven means less time to heat up and less time to cook, perfect for preparing a meal in a hurry (or for cooks who like to create in the heat of the moment). This also translates into a cooler kitchen (particularly convenient in the hot summer months) and less energy consumed. It is also perfect for cooks that are preparing fewer servings of food, since it is more energy-efficient than cooking small portions in a huge wall oven.

Designed with the consumer in mind

The Compact Smart Oven is carefully constructed from the most durable materials. Attractively housed in reinforced stainless steel, it is a striking addition to any kitchen. The heating elements are composed of quartz, rather than the metal elements found in other toaster ovens. Quartz responds more quickly to heat change, which results in more even heating throughout the oven. The interior is coated with a non-stick material that can safely withstand high temperatures, making cleanup easier. A crumb/drip tray that is accessible from the front of the oven (rather than the back, like many other toasters) also makes it easier to clean between cooking sessions.

1st Customer Review : Great Toaster, Decent Mini-Oven
Like just about everyone else in the free world, I grew up with a GE Toast-R-Oven. I cooked everything from toast (of course) to pizza bagels (a great discovery back in the 70s) to TV dinners and even baked fish in it. When the one I received as a gift when I bought my first house finely gave up the ghost, I replaced it with a $100 Hamilton Beach tabletop convection oven could bake a whole loaf of bread, two pies or a meatloaf. It even had a rotisserie with a spit you could impale a chicken on, though I never tested this feature. I used it for several years, and it did everything you would expect of a compact toaster oven- except make toast. The burners were just too far apart.

Enter the Breville. Rather than the mechanical timer and temperature control of the Hamilton Beach (and the GE before it) this unit has fully electronic control that promises to be more accurate in both functions. It can handle (they say) a 12" pizza, and 4 slices of toast. So how does all this work...

2nd Customer Review : Excellent toaster oven
It's a shame you have to spend over $150 for a good toaster oven, but if the cost is not an issue, this is an excellent one. This is not a convection oven, but is exactly what I wanted and it fits perfectly where the cheap one it replaced was.
This oven is well made, the door opens smoothly, the rack comes out easily. The pan that comes with it is heavy and enameled, not cheap sheet metal. The control system is excellent. The display is illuminated while setting or cooking, but dims out when not in use. I found it very easy to use. Toasting is a single touch and it compensates for the hot oven with multiple toast cycles. I've used the bake cycle and the muffins turned out great. It remembers your last setting for each cycle, so if you determine the 'perfect' setting for your favorite bagels or pizza, it's preset and ready to start when selecting the cycle. The crumb tray pulls out the front and is very easy to clean. This is vastly superior to out the back or from the bottom...
3rd Customer Review : Fall in love with toast all over again
I'm not one to write reviews, but this toaster is worth the time investment! We bought this toaster about a month ago. The whole family (inc. the kids) fell in love with it from the first time we ate toasted bread out of it, but we decided to hold off writing the review for "further testing". Initially, we had a Black and Decker for a bit less than 13 yrs till the toast lever caught fire (literally) and stopped functioning properly. So we needed a replacement. Our criteria was a small toaster/oven, that is not complicated to use, does not offer convection cooking (I already have two full size convection ovens), does not have the annoying ticker timer and that was about $50 - $70. I searched among many brands, unfortunately, many either were simple but offered the ticker timer OR offered convection baking which I know I would not use. The day I came across The Breville toaster and read the reviews, I was impressed with the features, but not the price. The reviews were so positive...
