I use at least one of these bowls nearly every day. You get a handle to hold as well as a pour spout and a rubberized bottom to avoid sliding. I am so glad I bought this set.

After having this set for a while now and using the bowls quite regularly, the large red bowl has somehow gotten a crack in the bottom (starting at a point in the center and going outward in a sort of firework pattern). I have not dropped my bowls and wash them either by hand or in the dishwasher (top drawer). I actually thought I might have messed up by washing them in the dishwasher, creating the crack (making it useless for anything with liquids), and came back to reread the description. It is listed as dishwasher-safe.

I figured I would edit my review so other customers can know my experience. Since no one else seems to have this problem, my case may just be a strange anomaly. Take from it...

These bowls are great and are already seeing lots of action in my kitchen. I use them for mixing, informal serving, and storage.

Pluses: tough, colorful, deep, rubberized ring on bottom to keep them in place, useful pour spouts, good range of sizes, excellent price

Minuses: Can't use in the microwave, no lids

Everything always breaks when it hits my tile floors, but not these bowls, they simply bounce to a halt. The rubber bottom helps to stabilize them when mixing. The colors hold up to the dishwasher.

I just received these and they were what I was expecting and hoping for. I have been looking forever to find such bowls. They are lightweight melamine with great fitting lids. Dishwasher AND microwave safe! Perfect nesting sizes in lovely colors. And I don't have to worry about dropping and breaking them. These are perfect for me, and at a very good price!

2nd Customer Review : Fun bowls that can go in microwave
I do a lot of cooking photography on my blog and really wanted to find some colored bowls that would be interesting to look at. I bought a set of these several months ago and have been completely happy. I tend to avoid ceramic bowls because they are so heavy and eventually break because they're dropped on my tile floor. I was hoping for plastic but it's been hard to find anything other than melamine WHICH I HATE. Melamine can't go in the microwave (a total pain!) and is difficult to get clean without a lot of elbow grease. These bowls are listed as melamine but I don't think they are. I have used mine in the MW and they are great. They clean up beautifully and are not heavy at all. Some people might consider them a smidge flimsy but I like them. Who says heavier=better? The nice shiny finish gives these bowls the appearance of porcelain or ceramic in photos, so it's a win-win for me.

It is REALLY hard to find colorful bowls that also have lids (and colorful lids, to boot). These are those bowls. Could they be thicker? Sure. But these are perfect for me. I see another reviewer mentioned the lids don't stay on. I thought so, too, at first. Then I realised I had to go around the edge pressing firmly until I hear it pop into place. Once I did that, I was able to pick a full bowl up just by the tab on the the lid and that sucker didn't budge. Good and tight! It took me a long time to find the sort of bowls I had pictured in my mind, and I'm glad I held out until I did. Very pleased.

1st Customer Review : Gorgeous, Solid Bowls but Not Really 'Non-Skid'
I've used these bowls several times now and these are my observations so far--

The Positive:
-The Bowls are gorgeous. They are definitely the most attractive mixing bowls I've ever purchased. They are brightly colored outside and white inside. Not sure how the white coating was put in but it doesn't show scratches at all. A+ for appearance definitely.

- Microwaveable!
- Good, useful sizes
- The bowls are plastic, but they are very sturdy feeling and the plastic is thick. It also has a nice handle and spout for pouring.

The problems:
-- The biggest problem for me is that it's not that 'non-skid'. I've had mixing bowls that have some sort of suction on the bottom so that when you're mixing it's stuck on the counter very firmly. These have non-skid patches on the bottom so they're not sliding all over the place like say a glass bowl. But it doesn't have the heavy-duty non-skid that I was looking for. These bowls come in bright colors which make my bland kitchen look a little more lively. They have non-skid patches on the bottom, one for setting the bowl flat on the counter and another patch to keep it from sliding around when it's tilted to make for easy mixing. The pour spout is also handy as is the wide handle on one end. The big bowl could be too small for those looking to make recipes with large volumes, but it's perfect for my everyday use. I even used the biggest one as a produce bowl on my counter! I would definitely recommended these.
